WCOOP 2009 concluded

PokerStars have concluded this year’s edition of WCOOP. With a total of $40.000.000 in guaranteed prize pools the 45 events combined was the biggest guaranteed online poker series ever. Event 45 was the monster $10.000.000 guaranteed WCOOP main event where 2000 players was needed to avoid any tournament overlay and with an amazing 2144 poker players attending PokerStars avoided to pay anything from their own pockets in the main event of WCOOP 2009.

45 events took place

In total 45 events was played and $51,652,800.00 was paid out in prize money during WCOOP. 140 countries have been represented with 104 of those cashing in one or more tournaments. 43973 unique players registered for one or more WCOOP events and an amazing 112.739 buy ins was sold by PokerStars.

3 players managed to cash in 11 events out of the 45 possible cashes and 2 players proved that poker is a skill game by hitting 3 final tables.

Elky most likely is the hottest poker players around these days as he won 2 WCOOP events where one had 1100+ players and another with more than 9000 poker players enrolled and if someone was doubtful about Elkys abilities before WCOOP then he has during 2009 cashed in more events than anyone else and is by far the player to look up for in the coming EPT tours. Winning a total of $504.705.84 makes Elky the 7th biggest winner in this years WCOOP.

USA doing well

Once again USA took most of the prize money. Exactly $24,160,621.68 (25 bracelets) was the combined winnings by American poker players with the runner up being United Kingdom (4 bracelets) cashing a total of $3,389,093.56.

In a year from now WCOOP 2010 is to be played and with the increasing and never ending success PokerStars have with this tournament series players can expect some huge prize pools to shoot at when World Cup of Online Poker returns.
