PokerStars EPT Warsaw

EPT PokerStarsDay 1 A and B has been concluded in Poland’s EPT event and 152 runners remain in the tournament where the winner will take home a little more than $500.000.

Notable names

A lot of notable names travelled to Warsaw to play this event and after day 1 there are still a lot of professional players left in the tournament with the chip leaders being American PokerStars online qualifier Carter Phillips who back in September claimed victory in EPT Barcelona and Antony Lellouche from France. Carter Philips took down a huge first prize of $1.200.000 in Barcelona and is looking for a back to back EPT winning streak.

Also left in the field is the young Danish poker professional player Thor Drexel who has been running fairly hot for a long period of time and even he only holds a bit more than 40.000 chips with Carter having almost 200.000 it is still anyone’s game and if Thor continuous the solid play we can expect to see him accumulate some chips tomorrow.

The Danes are known to deliver big results in tournaments and with players like defending WSOP champion Peter Eastgate, Full Tilt Pro Gus Hansen and Rehne Pedersen winner of Fourth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic it is not surprising to see the small country Denmark produce another EPT winner.

Several final tables

Thor has recently made several final table appearances and during WSOPE he managed to reach the final table in event 1 taking home 8th place and £14.835. This came shortly after he hit the final table at English Poker Open and a cool third place finish in the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Brawl earning him almost $50.000.

Thor normally play cash game and is a feared opponent in both Texas Hold’em No limit as well as in Pot Limit Omaha and with his recent result he seems to be a name to look out for in live tournament poker also. Backing Thor Drexel as the winner of EPT Warsaw could proof to be a good investment as he definitely know how to get to final tables and then it will only be a matter of time before he manage to go all the way and secure a big tournament title.
