pokerstars-logo-300x256For the very first time the EPT circuit will be stopping by Portugal as day 1 of the PokerStars EPT Vilamoura takes place today. This is one of the tree new stops on the EPT circuit and a lot of poker stars have already arrived in the beautiful Algarve resort of Vilamoura to take part in this new exciting event from PokerStars EPT.

€5300 in buy in

The EPT Vilamoura main event has a buy in of €5.300 and with a total cap of 600 players for day 1A and 1B this will surely create nice price pool for the eventual winner in case the event had been sold out. The tournament will be played over 4 days and one final day, which leaves plenty of room to play with the new and improved EPT structure.

As day 1A started today more than 130 players were reported taking their seat, which promises well for day 1B where more players generally turn up. Competing at the tables today are the EPT San Remo title holder and London high roller winner Jason Mercier, former EPT Dortmund winner Mike McDonald, Rolf Slotboom Antony Lellouche, Ludovic Lacay and PokerStars passport winner Shaun Deeb.

More than 20 players from Team PokerStars Pro

The star players who have announced their participation in the first European Poker Tour ever in Portugal include more than 20 members of Team PokerStars pro. They include former world champion of poker 2008 Peter Eastgate, PCA champion Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, EPT Warsaw High Roller winner Dario Minieri and former EPT Prague winner Arnaud Mattern.

It will of cause be interesting to se how this new EPT stop will handle the challenges of hosting such a big poker tournament for the first time over the next few days. So far things seem to be going well and with the amount of star poker players, we can expect some excellent poker as usual on the European Poker Tour.
