The above image comes from “Poker in the Sky” in Stockholm back in May 2009.

Have you heard of the concept of dinner in the sky? Something like 18 people sitting on a fancy table located on a platform which is hanging from a crane right there in the air. Sounds good? Well It looks good, our team has come across this innovative concept earlier this year in UAE (Dubai) where it was located on the popular Jumeirah Beach outside the Hilton Hotel.

The concept is altogether unbelievable and by far innovative as it features a gourmet dinner, with all luxuries together 50 meters above ground surface.
You might be asking what this has to do with Poker. Well Party Poker has just teamed up with Dinner in the Sky to hold the most innovative concept ever announced in the world of land based poker called “Poker in the Sky”. So its not online, not land based but its in the air.

The event will be taking place on the 11th September in Copenhagen, Denmark and promises to take away the glory of the Little Mermaid for one day. 22 poker players and 2 celebrities will be called to the poker table to spice up Copenhagen and bring an unforgettable experience for both spectators and players. Among the names to be participating are rumored to be Gus Hansen and Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan. The winner of the poker in the sky takes away flight tickets and hotel accommodation plus a $10,000 buy-in for the World Open V, London in October, which will be broadcast on television worldwide. will be posting pictures of the event later this week as a member of our team will be flying out to Copenhagen to watch the tournament.
A post earlier this week stating that Party Poker is moving heavy on all fronts is just being once again confirmed. Party Poker is going all in with each and single one of its toys for the International poker scene.

The leading European poker room seems to be preparing for a future open US market which will see it back in the glory of the old days as the world’s largest poker room.
