Match Preview

Whether by coincidence or some plan, United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has regularly looked toward Spurs for his multi-million pound signings. I’m talking about Michael Carrick and more recently, Dimitar Berbatov, who has taken quite some time to prove his worth at ground shattering £30m.

It’ll be interesting to see how Ferguson prepares his team for this encounter, especially with Rooney’s ongoing injury and players like Valencia, Giggs, Hargreaves and Owen still out as well. The missing players have been evident in their recent performances, where they have thrown away victories in the last minutes and played somewhat slow, although they did manage to win their last league game 2-1 away against Stoke.

Tottenham comes into the match with a draw against Everton at home and must get points in this tough away game to stay in contention for the top 4. To do so they have to play at their best and place their hopes on Gareth Bale, who has performed at a high level recently.

Tottenham are likely to go into this matchup with their standard 4-4-2 formation, while Manchester United’s formation may be hard to predict. Ferguson is still playing experiments this late in the season, as seem last week with Evra as a winger and John O’shea taking up his position as a left back.

For this game I expect to see the partnering up of Javier Hernandez (who’s scoring all kind of goals recently) and Berbatov in front, with wing support from Nani and Park Ji-Sung in a 4-4-2 formation. This could however be far from reality on Saturday, as Ferguson is currently unpredictable with his on-off routines playing Neville or Rafael, Anderson or Wes Brown (who’s back from injury.)

Betting Tips for Manchester United vs Tottenham

Quality is not lacking in the Tottenham squad and United definitely have to play well to win this one, which recent games suggest they might not be doing at the moment. However, United’s spirits must be buoyed by the fact that they have won all six of the past games they have met.

We cannot dismiss Tottenham however, considering Manchester United’s current form and play. Especially with the odds paying around 6 to 1, it could be valuable bet to back the underdog in this one, as we believe Tottenham will win at least one out of six matches.

Our betting tip will be Tottenham to win.
