Juventus vs. Inter Milan – Match Preview – Betting Tips – Odds

When the Italian giants go head to head in Turin, the standings and the objectives for the current season are less relevant. Juventus might not be in the best shape, but they will fight till the bitter end, trying to continue the dominance over their rivals. As for Internazionale, winning away in Turin looks possible and the three points are very alluring. For the time being everyone will focus entirely on this fixture and the upcoming Champions League matches will have to wait.

Match Preview

For Juventus 2011 is a terrible year so far, and their lack of efficiency in both ends caused a string of bad results, somehow sweetened by the recent success away at Cagliari. Matri was the man of the match with his two goals, but Toni stepped forward to finish the deal. This is a very important fact for the hosts, who will require a similar display from the two strikers, if they are to score against Inter. The goal getter Quagliarella and the second best attacker Iaquinta are both sidelined with injuries, so the hosts will lack the firepower upfront.

Inter is also plagued by injuries with Stankovic, Mariga, Lucio, Samuel and Milito missing this derby, and after the foolish act committed in the last round, Chivu will also be absent. The midfield is the most affected area, but having Chivu unavailable as well, is going to put extra pressure on a defensive that is already struggling. Remember that AS Roma scored three times at San Siro, so having a key defender suspended is only going to make matters worse for Internazionale.

Nobody is too concerned about Milito, who sank into near irrelevance following Mourinho’s departure. He was the lone striker for Inter last season and with all the balls looking for him, the chances were high he would become the goal getter. Things have chanced following Eto’o’s arrival, who will now pair up with Pandev, a player who’s been a major disappointment for Inter this season. Coach Leonardo will not go on to start with two strikers and will probably send only Eto’o upfront, making the adjustments later on.

Betting Tip

Juventus have some injuries of their own besides the two strikers, and they are fully aware of Inter’s ability to cash in on any mistake. This will be a very balanced derby, with the home pitch advantage and tradition being enough to make up for the lack of form and positive results. I wouldn’t back either of these teams, instead choose the draw for better odds and a nice chance to pick a winner.
