Fulham vs Hamburg Europa League – Betting tips and match preview

europa-league-bettingFulham is hosting Hamburg in the second of the semi-finals in the Europa League tonight at 20:45 at Craven Cottage. After 0-0 in the first match the Cottagers have a chance to complete their fantastic journey in this year’s Europa League, while Hamburg is really struggling at the moment and need the final ticket to make their season a success. We have analyzed both teams’ chances tonight and found some good betting tips for the match.

Outstanding year by Fullham

The Fulham campaign in this year’s Europa League have really been outstanding and after the result at Nordbank Arena they are now the favorites to reach the Europa League final. Their home record in Europa League is formidable as they have won 2-1 against Wolfsburg, 4-1 against Juventus and 2-1 against Shaktar Donetsk and should they complete the record today and reach the final, it would probably be one of the biggest surprises in European football for many years.

On the other hand Hamburg has had a poor season, if you leave out their Europa League campaign. The story took yet another turn this weekend when manager Bruno Labbadia was fired after a shocking 5-1 lost to Hoffenheim, which leaves them with three wins in the last fourteen domestic league games. The poor results might leave them out of European competitions next year and make this the last European game in a long time. This said, they have played well in the Europa League so far, where they have beaten Standard Liege, Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven on their way to the semi-final. At the same time they will have home advantage in final played at Nordbank Arena, which could give them the necessary motivation to get back on track tonight.

Bobby Zamora not on the field

For the game tonight Fulham might be missing their star striker Bobby Zamora, who is struggling to be fit. From the looks of it, he will play, but it will nevertheless be in a somewhat weaker version than normal. Beside Zamora, Fulham is only missing Chris Baird due to suspension. Hamburg also has a few problems before the match as Dennis Aogo is out with a virus, while Tuncay Torun is injured. At the same time midfielder Piotr Trochowski is out for Hamburg as he is serving a ban for the match.

The current match odds are at 2.10 for a Fulham win, 3.30 for a draw and 3.50 for Hamburg win at 888sport. In tonight’s match we expect a close fight between the two teams at Craven Cottage and the big question is whether Fulham can keep the Germans from scoring. To answer the question, we find it highly unlikely that Hamburg will not score, as Fulham have conceded goals in the last three home games in Europa League. No matter what, this means we will see a lot of goals tonight as both teams must come forward, if they concede a goal. Our betting tip will therefore be to bet on over 2.5 goal in the match, which can be played at odds 2.00 at 888sport. We find this odds way to high considering it is the second semi-final and the fact that either team must attack, if they concede a goal.
