Read the match preview below and receive current match odds and betting tips for FC Utrecht vs Liverpool.

FC Utrecht

The Dutch side finished last season in seventh position in their home league, but managed to qualify for the Europa League through the Dutch playoff system against Roda JC. Before reaching this year’s competition, they had to qualify for the group stage, where impressively won against Luzern, Tirana and Celtic. Especially their home form is impressive, which all the previous mentioned teams felt with the latter two loosing 4-0 each.

Their stats are just as impressive in their domestic league with a 100% record this season, while their away stats paint a different picture with four defeats in four matches leaving them in twelfth position.

FC Utrecht’s Europa League campaign started out good as well with a draw 0-0 away against Napoli, a result they must build on tonight at home.

Liverpool has had a horrible start to the new Premier League season with only 6 points in six matches and current sixteenth position in the table. Their recent week did not make things easier with defeat to Northampton in the Carling Cup and a draw against Sunderland.

The only cause for optimism has come in their Europa League fixtures, where they have won all five matches including qualification. Interestingly Liverpool has rested many of their normal starters during their Europa League campaign, using a total of 28 different players in the competition.

For tonight’s game Fernando Torres is expected to be rested, although in the squad for the match.

Betting Tip and Prediction

FC Utrecht has an impressive home record and Liverpool is facing a very difficult task tonight. The Dutch side is surely confident and is likely expecting at least one point. With Liverpool’s poor form lately, their chances are quite good as well, although Liverpool can never be disregarded, when it comes to European Cups. We expect a tight contested match, where the match could be decided by single goal. However, our prediction will be 1-1 and a draw between the sides.
