Bodog cancels the 100k Guaranteed Tournament

Another week with more than $30.000 in overlay in Bodog Pokers Sunday 100k tournament and this time it seems the poker site have had it and cancelled the tournament almost one hour after it had begun. With 450 participants Bodog once again did not manage to hit the guaranteed prize pool and players were told in a pop up message that the tournament had been cancelled due to the lack of players. This despite Bodog has been using the overlay in the tournaments as a promotion tool in recent weeks.

On top of this both the software and the Bodog websites crashed shortly after and technical problems could of course be the reason for the cancellation of the flagship tournament. This surely is a way better explanation for Bodog than just cancelling the tournament which will lead to a big loss of credibility in case Bodog do not refund players according to the guaranteed prize pool.

The initial response got from Bodog is as follows:

“Thank you for contacting Bodog Customer Service.

We are experiencing some server issues with our poker network and we have stopped all game servers as a result. All tournaments will be paid out in line with the tournament cancellation policy. Thanks for your patience.”

More updates to follow regarding this when Bodog gets back to us with a more comprehensive answer.
