Aston Villa vs. Arsenal – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Aston Villa will play Arsenal in Saturday’s early Premier League match at 12:45 GMT at Villa Park. The Gunners have lost their two most recent games in the League and Champions League, but they are still in contention for the title due to Chelsea’s poor form lately. Aston Villa could however finish them off today, although it will not be easy for them considering Arsenal’s away stats this season.

Match Preview.

The Premier League is at it again this Saturday and with a fantastic matchup between Arsenal and Aston Villa to start off the 15th round. There is no subtle way to describe the current trend in the Arsenal camp, but to say the team is slipping would be fair description. Their loss to Tottenham last weekend was worrying to say the least, and you would be forgiven for thinking they had won it at half time.

The team does provide wonderful passing football, but are troubled in central defence without Vermaelen. Two nil up on in the first half and losing 3-2 at home at the referees whistle more than proves the point. Their manager Arsene Wenger had to pull a tantrum by throwing a bottle of water in disgust to show his disappointment in the players, and to make things worse, the team then lost 2-0 to Braga in their group stage Champions league fixture.

Things have to change and I am sure their manager knows it. Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse for the Arsenal fans, as their star midfielder, Cesc Fabregas faces up to three weeks away from the pitch, after he was forced away in the Braga game with a hamstring injury.

Aston Villa is no better, from a spirited performance in Manchester United’s turf to losing 2-0 to Blackburn. This on-off performance by the players from Villa Park has characterized their season so far, and a long injury list does not make things easier. Among players certainly out you find Albrighton, Cuellar, Delph, Heskey, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Sidwell and Weimann, while both Agbonlahor, Beye and Hogg are doubtful for the match.

Betting Tip for Aston Villa vs Arsenal

Despite their recent slip in form, Arsenal must be considered favorites for the match at Villa Park. Head to head stats 14 Arsenal wins, 8 draws and 1 Aston Villa win in the previous 23 fixtures and Arsenal are undefeated against Aston Villa in the last 11 Premier League encounters.

If you combine the stats with current form, neither team is doing well. However Arsenal should be able to win this one against an injured Villa side. In addition Arsenal has performed well away in the Premier League this season and we recommend backing the London side for this one.
