Arsenal Team News

Manager Arsene Wenger is facing tough assignment with normal starters Robin van Persie and Thomas Vermaelen out with injuries. In addition hot Theo Walcott will not able to play due to an ankle injury, while Nicklas Bendtner is still sidelined with a groin injury. Luckily he will be able enjoy the services of Samir Nasri and Denilson, who are both fit again. With Thomas Vermaelen out, we are expecting see Sebastien Squillaci in his debut for Gunners as well.

Bolton Team News

Bolton are hoping to see the return of Ivan Klasnic up front, but the striker is still rated very doubtful for the match due to a thigh injury, and in addition Davis is likely out as well with knee problems. With goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen’s three match suspension, their second choice Adam Bogdan is set to make his debut in the Premier League for Bolton.

Match Preview

As mentioned, today’s fixture could turn out to be highly entertaining, as new Bolton manager Owen Coyle has renewed their playing style from the former pugilist style and somewhat copied the purist style from Arsenal. Neither team have lost so far this season, and the match could turn out to be on more even footing, than one would have expected pre season.

Last season Bolton lost twice within a few days against the Gunners in January, which actually were manager Owen Coyle’s first games in charge. Despite loosing 4-2 after being up 2-0 at Emirates, the game will be remembered for William Gallas reckless challenge, which was not punished by referee Wiley and secured Arsenal the equalizer and eventual win.

Wenger apologized afterward, but the controversy was somewhat ironic, considering the Arsenal managers former attacks on Bolton, accusing them of playing Arsenal out of the race for the title back in 2003 by kicking them down.

Betting Tip and Match Prediction

Our betting tip will be Arsenal to win with 2 goals or more at odds 1.61 at Ladbrokes Sports.

Despite being off to a good start, the Wanderers have not beat Arsenal since 2006, when they secured a home victory with 3-1. The last eight games between the sides in the league and cup all ended with an Arsenal win, and we predict the result will be the same today. Bolton’s new offensive style will not do them well against Arsenal, opening up the back, which could prove very dangerous against a strong counterattacking side like Arsenal. Even though Arsenal are troubled with injuries up front, the match is a must win for the Gunners and they do have qualified attacking players playing in Arshavin, Nasri and Rosicky. Our Match Prediction will be a 3-1 or 4-1 win to Arsenal this afternoon.
