Wolverhampton v Man United
Posted on March 6, 2010 by Tasouski
At the Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton will at 17:30 GMT welcome Manchester United who currently is second in Premier League and is looking to overtake Chelsea’s position as league leader with a victory in today’s match.
Wayne Rooney injured
One of the hot topics before the match today is Wayne Rooney’s knee injury he incurred mid-week when England played Egypt. It is questionable if the in form Rooney is fit to play for United today as this would be the third match in only 6 days for Wayne Rooney and it is likely that Ferguson will not risk the super star even this match is of extreme importance in Manchester United’s quest for the fourth consecutive champion title.
Wolverhampton visited Old Trafford in December 2009 losing the game 0-3 after a controversial change in the squad playing against United. 10 players was shifted compared to the match Wolves played against Tottenham a few days earlier and Wolverhampton got punished £25,000 for bringing a weakened team on the field. This will not happen today as the club needs to fight for every single possible point in the league to avoid relegation. Everton (3-1) and Aston Villa (1-1) have shown that it is possible to take points away from Manchester United when they are on the road. Certainly both those teams hold higher class than Wolverhampton but a team who desperately need points will perform great most times and this encounter will not be a walk over for Manchester.
Wolves actually create chances in every game but has been unable to convert those (21 goals) this season, but surely they are a dangerous team to meet for anyone at this moment in time including mighty United.
Still the favorite to win
United with or without Wayne Rooney is of course the favorite to win this game but when looking at the odds then Wolves are made too big underdog. Odds 1.38 is currently the selling price at Betfair and this is outstanding value for traders. Away team odds are likely to grow already after the whistle begin the game and unless United score with the first minutes of the game a nice profit can be traded on Betfair. Using Manchester United as one of the teams in multiples is not advisable today and should be avoided regardless it is a big TV match.
