PokerStars 2010 World Championship of Online Poker and Qualification

Friday, August 20th, 2010

PokerStars have already announced the start of Satellites and Extreme Satellites for the upcoming 2010 World Championship of Online Poker. The World Championship of Online Poker or the WCOOP is the largest online tournament series, and as always players find huge guaranteed prizes throughout the series.

The 2010 WCOOP edition will feature a total of 62 events and pay out $50.000.000 in guaranteed prizes. This is additional $10.000.000 and a total of 17 extra WCOOP champions to be crowned compared to the 2009 edition, which make the tournament series by far the biggest in online poker history.

The series will run for 23 days starting on the 5th September with a $200 buy in NL Holdem (6max) event, and players can look forward to a one million dollar guarantee from the beginning with $1,250,000 up for grabs in this first event. Actually players will find a whopping 17 events with one million dollar or more guaranteed in the 2010 WCOOP, which once again confirms PokerStars status as the number one poker room in world.

As always the WCOOP will finish off with the Main Event and again players can look forward to a $10.000.000 guaranteed prize pool. Last years champion Yevgeniy ‘Jovial Gent’ Timoshenko won $1,715,200 after outlasting 2,144 opponents to win the title, which is the biggest prize ever in online poker tournament history. Like last year the 2010 WCOOP Main Event has a buy in of $5,000 and maybe we will see new record once again. One thing is for sure though; we will see all biggest names online poker competing in this prestigious event.

2010 WCOOP Qualification

PokerStars are already running a series of satellites for the 62 events. Satellites start from as low as $1 and are running throughout the day in the lobby. To access the satellites click on “Events” tab and then “WCOOP”.

In addition to regular satellites, which are for specific WCOOP events, PokerStars have announced Extreme Satellites as well, that run three times daily. These Extreme Satellites will issue the winners with a tournament ticket, which is only redeemable for a WCOOP event. For example if you qualify in a $5.50 tournament, you will be issued a ticket for a WCOOP event with a value of $109. Buy in for these Extreme tournaments range from $5.50 to $260.

Players will find the Extreme satellites in the PokerStars lobby by clicking on “Events” and then “WCOOP”. To show only Extreme Satellites type WCOOP Extreme into the Tournament Filter.

We recommend all players to try out the qualifiers for the 2010 WCOOP, which are normally beatable and a cheap way to play these major online poker events.

If you do not have a PokerStars account, then hurry up and create one by clicking on the banner below. Not only will you have a chance to take part in the largest online tournament series, but you can also receive a $600 bonus by typing the PokerStars Bonus Code PSP7824. Full Tilt Poker sign sponsor deal with Formula 1 team

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Play Online PokerFull Tilt Poker just announced they have signed a sponsor deal with the Formula 1 racing team Virgin Racing. The deal will already be in effect this weekend at the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya, where the drivers from Virgin Racing will be wearing the Full Tilt Poker logo.

Consequently fans of Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi can look forward to see the two team Virgin Racing drivers wearing the Full Tilt Poker brand, which will also be present on the drivers’ cars and other team material from Virgin Racing team.

According to both brands the deal concludes a long term discussion dating back to Virgin Racing’s birth in Formula 1 last November. In their joint press release yesterday both Team Full Tilt member, Chris Ferguson, and Virgin Racing chief executive officer, Graeme Lowdon, expressed great excitement about the new partnership and looked forward to launching their cooperation this weekend in Spain.

Although the partnership between Full Tilt and Virgin Racing was seemingly long underway, it has likely been speed up as part of the more long term strategy from Full Tilt Poker, who has increased its marketing effort in Europe over last months in light of the increasing competition from rivals PokerStars and Party Poker over the European market.

DriveDreamConveniently for Full Tilt Poker the deal came just shortly after Party Poker also signed with Toro Rosso’s driver Jaime Alguersuari and former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichela. A signing, which was part of a more aggressive strategy from Party Poker, in light of the increased competition and losses in revenue on the European poker market recently.

Interestingly enough Full Tilt Poker has chosen to launch their Partnership with Virgin Racing on same date Party Poker chose to launch their new sponsorship with Alguersuari. Party Poker even offers their players a chance to win tickets for the Valencia Grand Prix through their poker room, which might be turn out to be free marketing for Full Tilt Poker in the end.

PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun final table is set

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

PokerStars_com-125x125Players have reached the magic final table at the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun. Today 8 players will battle it out for the title in the $5.000 No Limit Holdem main event, where the eventual winner takes home $750.000 for his or her effort this week. As we wrote yesterday, Vanessa Selbst has been on fire throughout the poker tournament and she also made it to the final table today, but she had to give up her chiplead to Mike Beasley, who will be starting with 4.985.000, while Vanessa Selbst has 4.545.00 in chips.

The final table for today looks as follows with chip counts:

Mike Beasley, 4.985.000
Vanessa Selbst, 4.545.000
Michael Woods, 2.950.000
Alistar Melville, 2.940.000
Cliff Josephy, 1.940.000
Derek Raymond, 1.545.000
Jonathan Aguiar, 1.535.000
Scott Seiver, 1.125.000

It looks to be a very interesting final table and we are likely to see some great poker. Among the more interesting poker names are Cliff Josephy and Scott Seiver, who have over $3 and $2 million dollars respectively in lifetime poker earnings, but they will have a hard time playing as they are up against some very good players. Both Vanessa Selbst and Jonathan Aguiar are experienced players with about a million dollar in cashes and both players are likely hoping this will be their big breakthrough. On Bonusriders we still have a good eye to Vanessa and if she keeps working her chips well, she has a good shoot at the title today.

When players return today blind-levels will be 25k-50k with 5k ante, which leaves plenty of room to play for the remaining players. We could be in for a long final table and no players can be ruled out yet as play continues today at noon EDT. Check back tomorrow for the final table results from the PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun. If you also like to play tournament poker, we would like to remind you that PokerStars is hosting their Sunday Warm-up and Sunday Million today with $750.000 and $1.000.000 guaranteed. Join PokerStars now and up to $600 in sign up bonus at world’s largest poker site.

Vanessa Selbst leads after PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun day 3

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Vanessa SelbstYesterday 125 players returned to the poker tables to play day 3 of the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun Main Event, and now only 24 remain in the hunt for the title and whopping first prize of $750.000.

The big story of the day was aggressive playing Vanessa Selbst, who began the day with 542.600 in chips and was third in the total count before the day. The many starting chips seemed to work well for Selbst as she used her chips to overtake the tournament chip lead after day 3. Selbst played very aggressive throughout the day with relentless raising and 3-betting all day long. By the end of day 3 she had picked up 2.285.000 in chips, which leaves her in great position to go on to the final table today.

Another professional poker player, who had a great day at the felt, was Scott Seiver. From the start of day 3 his day looked to be short, as he began with merely 40.400 in chips, but somehow he managed to climb the leader board ending with 2.241.000 chips. After that performance he almost seems destined to go on to the final table today and Seiver will surely be one of the favorites at this stage in the tournament.

On the other hand Selbst and Seiver will not get an easy day as they are joined today on day 4 by many other great players. Yesterdays chip leader Jordan Morgan is still in the hunt and ended the day with a nice stack of 1.667.000 chips, while other notables including Cliff Josephy, Jonathan Aguiar, Peter Jetten and Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso are still standing with 24 players left in the tournament.

We also had to say goodbye to a lot of great players on Day 3 as they hit the rail during play yesterday. Among the more prominent names was Phil Ivey, who was eliminated in 29th place, and we also lost James Akenhead, Ryan D’Angelo, David Williams, Sorel Mizzi, Jeff Madsen, and Team PokerStars Pros Dennis Phillips and Marcello Del Grosso.

The players will hit the tables again today at midday and play will resume until only eight remain for the final table. All players are now guaranteed $19.000 for their performance the last days, but surely are aiming for more. We will check back with more updates from the PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun, when the final table is found later today.

PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun Day 2

Friday, April 9th, 2010

PokerStars.comPokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun started out Wednesday in Connecticut having a massive 716 poker players entering the main event.

Day two of the tournament with a buy in of $5,000 witnessed 443 players come back to the tables and when the day ended this number were reduced to only 125. The cash bubble will break open early on today after 104 players are reached and then players are guaranteed at least $7,500 for their effort. For several of the remaining players this will not be a satisfactory prize, as a lot of the pros surely have their mind set on winning the 3rd title ever to be awarded on the North American Poker Tour. The winner will take home a first prize of $750,000, which will be an incredible payday even for the top poker pros left.

Many professional poker players still remain, who has a great opportunity to build their stack toward the final day and the big money. Going into day 3 the chip leader is Jordan Morgan that completed day 2 with 705,100 in chips to lead the field, but he will certainly get a lot of opposition in the top, since the second day of play gave room for many of the big names in poker in the top 10. Among players in the top 10 are top pros like Vanessa Selbst, that hangs on to 542,600 in chips, while both James Akenhead, Ryan D’Angelo, Lars Bonding and Sorel Mizzi are sitting on around 450,000 in chips.

The biggest name in poker Phil Ivey also made it to day 3 and is not far behind the leading players. Some other great players that will begin day 3 having a serious amount of chips are Peter Jetten, Cliff Josephy, Todd Terry, Matt Woodward, and Team PokerStars Canada pro Marcello del Grosso.

All of the poker players come back today at midday EDT and resume play at blind-levels 2,000-4,000 with a 400 ante with an average stack of 171,840 before the start of day three. We will of cause follow all of the action from the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun and bring you updates from day 3. So make sure to check in at Bonusriders tomorrow for the latest news.

pokerstars-all-stars

Active online poker players will have surely realized till now that Poker Stars is endorsed by some of the biggest names of the modern poker world including Chris MoneyMaker, Peter Eastgate, Daniel Negreanu plus other names which have both found their position on the leader boards of high standard events like the WSOP, the EPT and the WPT. Surely the successful recipe started with Chris Money Maker back in 2003 but over time since has continued to grow longer and become more prestigious every year; therefore attracting more players seeking for the package of the American Dream.

The successful recipe of getting big names on board or identifying players with potential and making them turn out to be names has been successfully been followed by most major poker rooms with Full Tilt Poker being the poker room managing to benchmark the technique with most success by endorsing names like Phil Ivey and Chris Jesus Ferguson under their wing.

Now what makes this post news is that PokerStars is now giving players more chances ever before to watch them play, chat and even compete against them for cash by introducing Team Pro Tuesdays, which is surely a smart strategy to boost the poker room traffic on a so called slow day. On this day every week, scores of the PokerStars pro players will be logging on and playing at the tables, covering everything from cash games to tournaments, across a wide range of games and buy-in levels. You’ll be able to watch your favorite players in action, and talk to them from the rail.

Team Pro Tuesdays will also include two Outlast the Pro tournaments, where you can play against the big names and win cash by lasting longer than the Pros. There are two tournaments running each Tuesday from December 8-29. One at 13:00 ET, another at 20:00 ET. Each has a buy-in of only $11, with $1,000 added to the prize pool. Stay in the tournament longer than all the Pros and you’ll get to split the extra cash with the other players still left in. See the example below for more on how it works. How to find Team Pro and play against them

Team PokerStars Pro players will be online every Tuesday between 12:00-15:00 ET and 19:00-22:00 ET. To find which players are online at any time, download PoekrStars, open the PokerStars software and click the ‘Team Pro’ button at the bottom of the main lobby window. Alternatively, click ‘Requests’ in the top menu bar and select ‘Find a Team PokerStars Player’. To register for an Outlast the Pro tournament, open the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Tourney’ & ‘All’.

Even more today is in reality one of the best days for the PCA qualifiers at Poker Stars with the Freeroll Fantasy Satellites being the games for new PokerStars players to look out for. These and all PCA qualifiers give you the chance to win a trip to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure which will be hosted at the Atlantis resort Atlantis in The Bahamas. The winners of the qualifiers will get a prize package valued around $15,000, which will cover all expenses including accommodation and buy in to the event itself. The Freeroll Fantasy events are real freerolls, but they are there are more ways to qualify. Page after page of events such as the Frequent Player points events and cash games, some for as little as $8.80. In the PokerStars lobby look under Events, PCA to find the satellites.

Sign up Here and use PokerStars Bonus Code STARS600 and PokerStars Marketing Code PSP7824 to be identified as a referred player and claim the maximum bonus of 100% up to $600 which is a time limited offer available at bonusriders.com for all new PokerStars players.
