2 months 2 millions Episode 8

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Episode 8 was the episode where the team finally had a breakthrough and combined ended up winning $371.000 making the result after eight of the ten 2month2millon episodes a plus of $507.000. The episode began where episode 7 ended with Dani, Jay and Emil having to buy Brian a $5000 watch because he was the biggest winner in 2months 2million episode 7. After having found his watch the three other guys each pulled up the credit card and the one card who was picked had to pay the bill which show how degenerated gamblers the guys really are.

The solution to the missing results and winnings was to create a so called lockdown where the team could not leave the war room for 36 hours. Dani lost around $22.00 while Brian and Emil both won during this lockdown period but all focus was on Jay as he was playing the nosebleed stakes $200-$400 against David “Viffer” Peat. After a good start Jay got into real trouble losing quarter of a million dollars to David Peat but during that period Kranz was looking to get under the skin of David Peat and understand his betting patterns. Krantz finally found a tell he could exploit which was that David Peat was bluffing when firing a full pot bet on the river.

After a few hands that proved Jay Rosenkrantz’ theory to be correct it was only a matter of time before David Peat would lose all the money he had won plus what he had in his account. Jay was very careful in not exploiting the tell in any smaller pots but waited to use his knowledge in the big ones which finally resulted in him winning a $300.000 plus pot against David Peat. It took more than 36 hours for Jay to make this great comeback and after the session he could put down the biggest win in 8 weeks on the scoreboard. This whole Heads Up match against David Peat showed clearly that betting patterns from your opponent can be exploited and that poker truly is a skill game where observant behavior pays off.

If David Peat was the right opponent to play from the beginning is doubtful and the team pushed the stakes in the eagerness to fulfill the quest of winning the $2.000.000 in 2 months. This time it ended well but the table and opponent selection was not as careful as in the prior seven episodes which certainly is not something that give credit to the guys or can be deemed a professional attitude at all.

2 months 2millions episode 9 will have a big live cash game taking place in the Las Vegas mansion which can be followed next Wednesday on the G4 network when the second last episode are broadcasted.

2 months 2 million (2m2mm): Episode 6

Friday, September 25th, 2009

The only epic thing to say about episode 6 is that the guys finally begun to win. Brian once again was the biggest winner and booked $32.500 in winnings. Jay was not far away from that amount with his $29.100. Dani posted a back to back week win and this time a substantial $26.500 was added to his bank roll while Emil Patel scored a nice $17.900 profit during week 6.

With all players in the black zone and a combined win of $106.000 the overall result in the hunt of winning $2.000.000 in 2 months show a profit of $141.100. With a few weeks to go and only 7% of the total won so far it will be almost impossible to full fill the goal but on the other hand all the four players showed in 2month2million episode 6 that they are back on track in terms of playing some real serious online poker. Once again most of the play was taking place on online poker giant Full Tilt Poker as this is one of the poker sites where the team members can find action.

Episode 6 of 2 months 2 million also saw the team hosting a boot camp where four other young online poker layers decided to invest $2500 each to visit the marvelous house in Las Vegas and get some coaching from Jay, Dani, Emil and Brian.

One of the students made a serious big compliment when he talked about which poker player he would prefer to be coached by mentioning Brian Roberts as being second in line just after Phil Ivey but as Ivey himself is not coaching anyone then he got the best coach in the world. This statement show how much respect the online poker community have for Brian “Flawless_Victory” Roberts who also has been the team member with most consistent results throughout the first 6 episodes.

Unfortunately we did not really get under the skin of how the coaching took place. The students Harry “ UgotaBanana” Kaczka, Wladimir “Insyder19″ Taschner, Ben “pokiethepanda” Middleton and Dave “NLsoldier” Schnettler all played a small online session on the big plasmas in the War room where Team Israel could follow the hands and thought process the different students had regarding NL Texas Hold’em poker but to little emphasis was put on the real work on the boot camp participants studies in regards of improving their game.

Instead the G4 TV production once again focused a lot on a Las Vegas night club visit where all 8 poker players went to party being taken there in a rented party bus. It is really a shame in our opinion that a substantial part of 2months2million is spent on inferior drinking nights instead of putting some real focus on the game of poker.

You can follow all the players on Full Tilt Poker and the team will be back next Wednesday on G4 network where viewers 8:00 p.m. EST will be able to see the new poker production 2 weeks 1.858.900 millions.

2 months 2 million: Episode 4

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Finally some high stakes action and what a performance by David Benyamine. Team Israel was only $114.400 up after 3 weeks of play and needed something going to close the gap towards the 2 million win.

An almost more than perfect situation arose when they met the wonderful Erica Schoenberg who is high stakes poker player David Benyamin’s girlfriend. Jay introduced himself and provided Erica with his details so David could call him to arrange an online clash on the high stakes tables on Full Tilt Poker.

Playing David could minimize the damage of losing Blewjob who was one of Jay’s targets for the summer. Blewjob suddenly quit playing Jay in Episode 4 of 2months2million even he was up a lot on Jay. The episode concentrated a lot about Jay’s mindset towards the No Limit match against David Benyamine and it was great to see that he prepared well for this battle.

David however did choose the time of the match and phoned Jay very early in the morning on 2 occasions. This was a really smart move by the French poker professional who know young online poker professional players bad habits. David most likely assumed that Jay either had been out partying all night or at least that he is not used to get up early.

Jay had to face a deficit of $60.000 against David Benyamine but this after losing an all in pot with Aces against David’s pocket pair jacks. Seen in the light of last week’s $80.000 loss this was not the time and place to be outdrawn.

The match lasted only 1 hour which was agreed upon upfront and David Benyamine showed great skills setting up this match. He knew Krantz was eager to play him and thus managed to negotiate some favorable terms for himself.

Despite the fairly huge loss in the match Jay still managed to win $1.000 in this weeks episode of 2months2million. Brian once again secured a win for the week and even it was less than $10.000 total he has been the one showing real stable results.

Dani managed to turn the 3 week downswing and ended winning a total of $11.000. Emil Patel who we do not really see at lot in the G4 Tv Show booked the biggest win ($27.200) in episode 4 and totally the team ended up $48.700 after week 4 for a total of $163.100 in the black zone.

Achieving the 2 months 2 million goal now seems impossible unless the guy push the stakes quite a bit. This would however be a doubtful strategy and hopefully the four poker professionals will revert from making stupid decisions.

In Episode 5 of 2months2million we will find out if the team will change the success criterion or not. Follow the show on G4 every Sunday.

2 months 2 million Episode 4 preview

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Finally we will get to see some real poker action. The team will take on French pro poker player David Benyamine in episode 4 and play some high stakes poker.

If Jay, Emil, Dani and Brian have become desperate in terms of getting the results going towards winning 2 million dollars within 2 months remain to be seen. In episode 4 of 2months2million they are going to take a shot on the nosebleed tables at Full Tilt Poker which can be followed when episode 4 air this coming Sunday on G4.

It is not without risk you play against David Benyamine on high stake tables. Having been a professional player through many years makes him a dangerous opponent who is capable of making weird moves and great calls. David can show an impressive tournament record of $3.400.00 in prize winnings but he enjoys even more to play the biggest nosebleed Pot Limit Omaha games on Full Tilt Poker.

Succeeding against David Benyamine will ensure the team a great and big win but being unsuccessful would on the other hand create a really tough situation for the 4 young professional poker players. Ending episode 4 with another red number could cause real panic and thus bad decisions in regards of who to play and on which stakes in the last remaining 4 episodes.

David’s beautiful girlfriend Erica Schoenberg also joins episode 4 and will play some live poker against Dani. Will this make him more focused on winning or will Dani Stern continue his already 3 week in a row losing streak?

Will the team beat Full Tilt Poker red pro David Benyamine or not?

Episode 3: 2 Months 2 Million

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Team Israel lost $80.000 during their 3rd week in LasVegas. The total score is now +$114.000 with 5 weeks to go and the massive $2.000.000 win they are aiming for seems to slip out of their hands.

A whole week went past without any of the guys putting a lot of hands in on the tables. Dani more or less went out every night and he looked to have had a hard week ending losing $30.000. This is the third consecutive week where the young guy takes a beating and time has come for him to show some moral and seriousness. We will most likely see Brian’s reaction towards Dani’s behavior next week in case the young player does not show he really wants to be part of a winning team.

Brian himself managed to keep the losses down to $4.000 this week even he had his girlfriend visiting and were unable to play a lot.

What took away most attention from the tables was a House War against 4 other young famous poker players. As usual a bet had to be in place but it was great to see that these guys is not all about money as the bet finally was decided to be “clean our house”.

The House War itself was pretty uninteresting to follow. Team Israel won two of the three events and could at the end of the show stand in the back laughing while their house was cleaned and cars washed by a bunch of millionaire professional poker players.

Jay ended as the biggest loser in episode 3 and he showed that losing was hard with him. In front of the cameras we saw him moody, use vulgar language and finally he even refused to do the penalty stunt. This episode did not serve him well at all and it will be very interesting to follow him next week. Another losing session could make him blow up which would finally get some real focus on the mindset of a poker player.

The show itself still have time to become more focused on online poker but if they guys continuously want to Party and run around without any interest in really showing the world they are the best poker players then it is tough to be the producer. G4TV just let the cameras roll and it is up to Dani, Jay, Emil and Brian to get more attention on the hard work it is to play poker for a living.

Of course these players have thought about their mission before they invited G4TV to follow them for 8 weeks, but as time goes by it admittedly becomes more and more evident that Las Vegas is a distraction for everyone in the house.

What happens in Vegas stays on G4TV and can be followed every Sunday directly from your living room. Watch Episode 4 this coming Sunday September 6.

2months2millions Episode 3 preview

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Episode 3 of 2months2millions will see Emil, Dani, Jay and Brian battle it out against another group of famous online poker players. Who they are remain a secret until this coming Sunday but action are guaranteed as the 2 groups will compete against each other in three different disciplines.

Poker, football and clubbing in Las Vegas. Our 2months2million poker stars do not look like real footballers but maybe their poker abilities and many years of strategic thinking will help them out on the field if their physics are not enough. At least we know all 4 of them have one strong finger after clicking the mouse endless on the online poker tables.

The clubbing contest could end up as a scandal when the poker players are going for the girls. A drinking and scoring contest does not sound like the best cocktail at all for young guys. Who will behave and not make a fool out of himself. Watch Episode 3 and find out.

A new form of poker has been developed in recent years. It is called “live online”. The players sit in front of each their computer but in the same room which give this variation of online poker a live element. Viewers will be witness to a great show following this spectacular form of online poker.

2 months 2 million Episode 2 ended with Emil and Dani fighting against each other in the “live online” discipline. Now they take on another group of young internet poker players with money at stake. Will Team Israel be able to beat their poker opponents on the online tables or will we see Dani continuing his bad run and be the one losing it all for the team.

2m2mm Episode 2

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Dani Stern did put a quantity of pressure on himself after losing heavily in one session. A $30.000 loss was sufficient enough to make him go to tilt room to demolish quite a few vegetables. Drinking was another way for Dani to tackle the significant loss.

Not a very professional attitude Dani showed in the first half of the episode but still he managed to get back strong and reduce his loss of the week to $19.000.

If the amount Dani lost had an impact of his behavior is still unclear. Maybe it was just the fact that he lost again and made it two weeks straight in the red zone that made him feel a little depressed.

Dani however did manage to explain in a reasonably good way that the amount of hands put in on the tables matters in terms of reducing the luck factor in poker.

Being amongst the best players in the world, it is only a question of time and enough hands before any loss is recouped. A situation we have already seen Jay Rosenkrantz pull of. After being stuck pretty well in episode 1, he is now the biggest overall winner on the whole team.

The worst loss Dani had the whole week was most likely in five Heads Up matches played against Emil Patel. Dani went from being up 2-0 to lose the match 2-3 and was once again to carry of the penalty stunt of the week.

We sure hope the penalty stunts will gain in quality as it was not particularly fun to watch Dani dressed in pink playing the harp on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Brian finally showed a little bit of tension as Dani kept losing. Brian himself did well in episode two and won close to $50.000.

It would be great to understand how much of the losses that are shared amongst the team members to fully understand their reactions in certain situations. “Unfortunately” we will most likely not get to see all the apprehension possible as the team after 2 weeks already is +$198.000.

Winning 10% of the total two million dollars after 2 weeks is a great effort and the four professional poker players are definitely on track to accomplish the task they set for themselves. Being comfortably in the green zone will make all of them relax and it is to be expected to see them put in a lot of hands in episode 3.

Jay Rosenkrantz has managed to present himself as a very mature and extremely pleasant person during the first two episodes. He seems to have enormous with self confidence and also he showed to care about his friend Dany and his well being. We already like this guy a lot so far and it will be very interesting to follow him in the remaining episodes of the show.

End result after 2 weeks: +$198.000

G4Tv will air episode 3 Sunday August 30th.

Episode 2: 2 Months 2 Million

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Episode two of 2months2million will put Dani Stern to the test as he encounter a huge losing streak. A $30.000 loss is enough to make him choose drinking as a way to get over it. Will he be able to get his act back together or will he be lost in the never ending Las Vegas night life?

The TV show airing every Sunday at G4TV could find itself portraying a young poker player who has lost total control in which case it will be more than interesting to see how his three companions will manage to help him back on track.

On the other hand Dani showed at the end of episode one how well he managed to tackle a ridiculous situation and without knowing we believe he once more will show moral strength and pull himself up from the big black hole he dug himself into.

Emil Patel on the other hand seem to be in good spirit as he begin to look for a personal assistant.

Team poker winnings after episode 1: $35.000

This is far behind what Team Israel need to win on average weekly and episode two could be the episode where we will get to see if this creates tension and not so well considered moves from the players.

The clock is ticking but the goal remains the same.

Follow all the action this coming Sunday on G4TV in 2 month 2 millions when episode two air at 9PM EST.

Episode 1: 2 Months 2 Million

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Finally the first episode of the new poker reality program 2 months 2 million was aired on G4TV.

Ouch – within 7 minutes the TV-show managed to glorify online poker in a way that should never be allowed by any producer in the world. Showing Team Israel winning $85.000 in a heartbeat was a bad intro.

The demography of G4TV viewers should never be presented for a game like poker this way. Winning looks so easy when Jay, Dani, Emil and Brian high five there way to big pots of $15.000, $10.000 and $5.000.

Viewers should instead have been presented for the fact that we are following 4 of the finest and best online poker players in the world. The skills of these four guys are beyond what any normal human being, will be able to ever learn.

It would have been great to meet each of the 4 team members and fully understand how they became the world class players they are today.

Furthermore it should have been emphasized that when these guys begun their online poker career the opposition was not as fierce as it is today. 4-5 years ago the internet was not yet full of professional poker sharks who were just sitting waiting to kill newbie’s to the game. It was a lot easier to build a sufficient bankroll in 2006 than in 2009.

Beginning a pro poker life today is so much harder than years back. Having a bankroll and maintaining it is a lot easier than building one.

It is immensely important that young spectators get to understand how hard it is to become a top poker player. It is not any different from any other sport where only a very few manages to become world stars. Skill, practice and education is what it takes and each and everyone playing poker has to understand that in poker luck is a non existing factor in the long run. The true experts will end up with the cash.

However instead of moralizing anymore about what this could have been, it is better to enjoy this show in full and be please on behalf of these guys good fortune in life.
The program will without doubt end up documenting how fun Vegas are when you are famous and have cash- if it will document poker and what it takes to become the best in this game is more doubtful.

The teamed ended the first episode with an overall profit of $35.000. Three players ended in the green zone and only Dani in the red zone. He had to take this week’s penalty and went to dinner in a pink ballet dress. He handled this situation to perfection and in a real mature way- even he is the youngest member of the team. Well done by the young man and viewers now expect a lot from him in the remaining episodes. The best is yet to come!

What if team Israel run bad?

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

2 months 2 million

The quest of winning 2 millions in 2 months that the 4 professional poker players Emil Patel, Dani Stern, Brian Robertson and Jay Rosenkranzt have given themselves is a great opportunity to discuss a few things.

First of all it must be emphasized that these young guys play for their own money and is not bankrolled by G4TV. They actually could lose a lot of money in the attempt to end up with a poker win of two million dollars after two months.

Goals like the above sounds cool and no doubt the youngsters will end up as even bigger poker stars than they already are, in case they succeed fulfilling the astronomic goal in this poker reality TV show.

However it has to be pointed out very carefully that there is an increased risk setting such high success criteria’s. What happens if the team combined is stuck $500.000 or more after a few weeks. Being young and fearless could cause them to take shots at really high stakes poker tables to try and become even because they WANT to show they could win the 2 millions within 2 months.

Will they psychologically be ready to accept that the mission failed in case they get of to a bad start or will they show all of America what inexperienced players often do namely play higher stakes to become even?

Hopefully Team Israel will show that they are real established and mature poker professionals who have prepared themselves properly for this insane difficult mission.
Hopefully they will continuously follow a strict bankroll management no matter what happens not only to protect themselves from astronomical losses but also as an education for the viewers of the TV show.

The “break even” syndrome is extremely dangerous and known by most poker players. Unfortunately it often ends up with a catastrophe when trying to get even for the day. Playing tired and maybe on higher stakes than normal very often causes players to lose a lot more than they did already.

No doubt the show will be more interesting if Jay Rosenkranz and his fellow Team Israel mates run really bad from day 1. Then the spectators will see some real spectacular psychological episodes where both the poker downswing needs to be handled as well as their internal friendship.

Emil Patel and the rest of the team have put themselves in the hot chair and August 16th we will all see if and how they will manage through eventual troubled waters.
