Portugal vs Brazil – betting tips, match preview and prediction

Friday, June 25th, 2010

World Cup BettingPortugal will play Brazil in the last group match today at 15:00 BST in Durban. The match will essentially decide the winner of group G after Portugal’s demolition of North Korea. A result that means Ivory Cost and North Korea are finished at the World Cup, although Ivory Coast could mathematically still qualify for the knockout stage.

Match Preview

We have reached the final day in the “Group of Death” and the match between Portugal and Brazil will decide who tops group G. Before the World Cup most experts expected top prize to be avoiding Spain, but after their shocking defeat by Switzerland, the tables have turned upside-down between the groups. Essentially they are now competing to play against Spain, which mean whoever wins today will face the worlds number two in a 1/8-final.

Brazil is already qualified for the knockout stage after two victories and is going to top group G, if they do not lose against Portugal. On the other hand Portugal will top group G by winning, but can still be reached by Ivory Coast should they lose big against Brazil. It would require a massive nine goal swing between the two teams, which honestly is an impossible scenario for the Ivory Coast.

The match today is between number one and three on the Fifa rankings, which normally would promise an exciting football match, but the controversial prize could play a role. This said we hope and expect both sides will play their normal football and let the ball decide their destiny.

Team Updates

Portugal will still be without Deco for the match today, who also missed the match against North Korea due to his hip injury. The Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to hold the team from the previous match, but we could see Liedson and Almeida up front.

The Brazilian side will make at least two changes with Kaka’s suspension and Elano’s injury. They could be replaced by Julio Baptista and Dani Alves. Others might be saved as well for the match today.

Portugal vs Brazil betting tip

Our betting pick will be more than 2.5 goal to odds 2.20 at 888 Sports.

It is difficult to predict a winner in the match because of the top prize. However we expect an open match with a lot of chances and two teams playing more or less freely. Their last encounter ended with 6-2 win for Brazil in 2008, which actually were Portugal’s last defeat. The result could be similar today, as the match can almost be considered a training match before the real tournament starts at the knockout stage.

Bet on Portugal and Brazil at 888 Sports and you will receive a £20 money back guarantee on your bet. Essentially all new customers have nothing (up to £20) to lose at 888 Sports, which is a fantastic sports betting offer.

If you have an account already, then take a look at the Sports Betting Bonus section for more free bets.

Chile vs Switzerland – betting tips, match prediction and preview

Monday, June 21st, 2010

World Cup BettingIn the second World Cup match Monday Chile takes on Switzerland at 15:00 BST at Port Elizabeth. The red hot chili pepper’s from Chile won their opener 1-0 against Honduras, but will be up against a Swiss team filled with confidence after their greatly surprising win over the World Cup favorites from Spain. Either team could book their ticket among the last 16 today, which would be a historic opening performance by both sides at the World Cup ever.

Match Preview

The biggest shock at the World Cup must be the headline for Switzerland’s performance and stunning win against Spain in the opening match. The Swiss was given no chances before the match with pre-tournament favorites Spain, but played their chance beautifully and perfected the game by winning 1-0. Opposite Spain they were able to score when it mattered and although it was not entirely well deserved, Ottmar Hitzfeld’s side probably doesn’t and shouldn’t care about it. However, Hitzfeld have quickly pointed out that they are not the favorites against Chile and need to work the same kind of pressure, they used against Spain. In addition he has pointed to the fact that Chile’s victory against Honduras was way too small and could have been 3-0 or 4-0 instead of the mere 1-0.

The Chileans made history of their own with the 1-0 victory against Honduras, which was their first in 48 years at the World Cup. Most experts have been very impressed with Marcelo Bielsa’s side in both qualification and their first match, where they have been employing their fast paced attack brilliantly. Today they face a big challenge breaking down the Swiss army of defenders, which held back mighty Spain in the opener. However they must be confident that their fast play will be able to open up a very heavy Swiss defence.

Team Updates

Switzerland must do without their defensive general Philippe Senderos after his injury in the opening match, but their attack will likely be strengthened by captain Alexander Frei and strong midfielder Valon Behrami. They both were out in the match against Spain and will be a nice addition to the team, if they should be ready.

Chile’s attack could be strengthened as well, if striker Humberto Suazo returns to the team. Currently he is expected to start in a three man offensive, which could prove dangerous for the Swiss with his record of 10 goals in the qualification.

Chile vs Switzerland betting tip

Our betting pick is an outright win for Chile at odds 2.20 at 888 sports.

One might have been tempted to bet on the underdogs from Switzerland after their surprise against Spain, but honestly they were lucky in the match and easily could have lost the match, if Spain had scored on just some of their huge chances. Chile is by far the best side of the two and should win the match way more than half the times, which make the odds for Chile quite valuable considering the quality of the teams. The Swiss will play their chance again with a strong defence, but will have a very hard time with the quick legged players from Chile. Our match prediction will be a 2-1 or 3-1 win for Chile and players looking for more value could consider the Chile-1 handicap bet at fine odds 4.75 at 888 Sports.

If you consider the handicap bet, 888 Sports have a perfect World Cup offer right now. New players receive a £20 no lose bet, which would perfect for this bet and could earn you £95 and cost you nothing (up to £20), should Chile not manage to win with 2 goals. Germany vs Serbia – betting tips and match preview

Friday, June 18th, 2010

World Cup BettingGermany will be playing Serbia in the first World Cup match of the day at 12:30 at Port Elizabeth. The German’s impressive performance against Australia promises well for the young German’s in this match, while Serbia can not afford to lose after their disappointing first round match against Ghana.

Match Preview

Football is a game with eleven players and a ball, where Germany wins in the end. It is a cliché, but it might become true after Germany’s fantastic performance in their first round match at the World Cup. Not only did they win, Germany scored four great goals in the match, which in itself contributed to almost a sixth of all the first round goals. However they have not won anything yet and a great first round match is not enough to go through. The German team is among the youngest squads at the World Cup, which mean Joachim Loew’s main task might be to keep them focused and on track. This said, it probably not be a worry for Loew, as the German youngsters have great experience from their home clubs and already have played a considerable amount of International matches.

The expectations were high for Serbia before the World Cup, but they got off to a very bad start and did not contribute much in a drab first round match defeat to Ghana. Going into the match today, they can not afford to lose and must keep their heads high to find the strength and passion to defeat the German favorites. In any case Serbia will have to make changes from the first match, where especially their midfield looked sluggish and without commitment against the Ghanaians. If they do not manage to up their game, they will likely leave the World Cup early on this time.

Team Updates

Unfortunately for Germany they might be missing their playmaker from Bayern Munich, Schweinsteiger, who missed their training session on Wednesday. It will be a big loss for Germany, and coach, Joachim Loew, might be forced to tactical changes to replace him. Currently Germany does not have another midfielder of his standard in the squad, which means we could see new formation from the German’s today.

The Serbians will be missing Alexsander Lukovic after his red card against Ghana. At the same time we expect a few changes in light of their performance in the first round match, where they might replace Nenad Milijas in midfield with Zdravko Kuzmanovic, while also Zoran Tosic is rumored to start against Germany.

Germany vs Serbia betting tip

Our betting pick will be Germany as outright winner at odds 1.61 at 888 sports.

Even though Serbia has a quality squad, they will probably fall short today. Germany can qualify for the last 16 at the World Cup by winning and would be pushing to settle things in this match. At the same they played amazing football in their first round match and likely have more confidence than any other team at the moment.

If you are looking for higher odds, the Germany -1 handicap bet could be a solid option for the match at odds 2.60. Especially if you do not have an account at 888 Sport, as they offer new customers a free no lose bet on any World Cup match. Players will get up to £20 back if they lose their bet, which make it a perfect option for the Germany -1 handicap bet. You can sign at 888 Sport by clicking the banner below.

Formula 1 betting – Monaco Grand Prix

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Formula_1_MonacoAs always the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix offers some great betting opportunities. The track layout does not offer many overtaking possibilities and the first drivers out of grid usually do well here. This means a lot will be decided today by the constructors’ ability to time their pit-stops and their overall fuel strategy for the race in Monaco.

Mark Webber claimed back to back pole position as he won the qualification for the second time in a week, but he was closely followed by Robert Kubica in second. Actually the Red Bull driver only claimed his pole position by a great final lab yesterday, which hopefully could give us an exciting race today.

In third position after the qualification was Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, who was closely followed by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton. Starting sixth in today’s race is Nico Rosberg, while Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button are right behind him.

The odds for the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix are as follows for the top 10:

1. Mark Webber – 1.73 – William Hill Sport
2. Robert Kubica – 5.50 – 888 Sport
3. Sebastian Vettel – 5.50 888 Sport
4. Felipe Massa – 13.00 Victor Chandler
5. Lewis Hamilton – 15.00 888 Sport
6. Nico Rosberg – 34.00 Victor Chandler
7. Michael Schumacher – 41.00 Victor Chandler
8. Jenson Button – 51.00 Victor Chandler
9. Rubens Barrichello – 151.00 William Hill Sport
10. Vitantonio Liuzzi – 251.00 888 Sport

With his pole position and win last week in the Spanish Grand Prix, Mark Webber is the overwhelming favorite for this race and it is hard to see anybody overtake him on this track. Both Webber and his teammate Vettel dominated last weeks Grand Prix in Spain and we could likely see a copy again today.

The few overtaking opportunities and the good performances so far from the Red Bull constructor team makes it difficult to bet against them. Our betting pick will be Mark Webber today as he will not be stopped unless the car brakes down. This said, his teammate Sebastian Vettel could be an interesting second choice today, but a lot will depend on the first 10 seconds out of the grid today. Whatever choice you make, it is important to bear in mind the constructors’ ability to change this race for good or bad by their strategy, which will likely determine the outcome today.

If you do not have a betting account on the sites above, you can sign up by clicking on the banners below, which will qualify you to a free bet on today’s Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Blackburn vs Arsenal Premier League – Betting tips and match preview

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

blackburn vs arsenal bettingBlackburn is hosting Arsenal today in the Premier League at 18:00 CET at Ewood Park. In this second last fixture of the season neither of the teams really have something to play for, although Arsenal could mathematically secure their 3rd place in the league, while Blackburn will be looking to finish of a good season today.

Only one month ago everything appeared great for Arsenal and they must have dreamed about going into this match as contenders for the Premier League title. However, their loss to league rivals Tottenham cost them the title and at the same time they were eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona, which means yet another trophy less season for the Gunners.

The only motivation for Arsenal today will be to keep their 3rd place, which also would ensure that their rivals from Tottenham do not get there. But the lack of motivation by the Gunners has really showed lately after their elimination from any possible trophy this season, and their results speak for themselves with a 3-2 loss to Wigan after being in front by 2 goals, although they did get 0-0 in their last fixture against Manchester City.

On the other hand Blackburn could finish of a good season today by winning against Arsenal. Actually they will be able to get a top-half finish in the Premier League, if they can manage to get points from this match. This might give them some extra motivation today, if playing Arsenal is not enough in itself. Going into the match they have only lost one time out of the last 7 matches and even managed to draw against both Chelsea and Manchester. This said they only won two of the matches, while drawing four times.

The only doubtful player from Blackburn is Phil Jones, who will likely miss the game. Arsenal will likely be without Andrey Arshavin again, while Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia is definitely out today.

The match odds at the moment stand at 3.75 for Black to win, 3.40 for a draw and 2.00 for Arsenal to win at William Hill Sports.

As it stands, the odds are quite even with Arsenal as a favorite. This is not surprising, given the match is quite hard to predict, because neither team really have anything to play for. The most solid betting tip might be to back the draw in this game, which are more than playable at the current odds. The lack of motivation by Arsenal lately will give Blackburn a good chance today and at the same time Arsenal only need one point secure 3rd place, which make the draw a likely result for today’s game.

Hull v Sunderland – match preview and betting tips

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Hull need a win todayToday Saturday April 24 Hull faces Sunderland in Premier league. Hull is currently still fighting for a new season in Premier League while Sunderland already have secured their place in season 2010/2011 mostly because of an excellent home statistic this year. Sunderland have lost 12 of their away matches so far. Hull is in severe trouble being both three points behind West Ham and having an incredible bad goal score compared to the Hammers.

In today’s match the situation is not improved by the fact that striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink will miss the game due to the concussion he got in the recent lost match versus Aston Villa. At the same time Sunderland will play to advance in the League table since every single spot they can climb release a payment of nearly £500,000.

One thing punters should look to take advantage of will be if Hull happened to be the leading team at half time. The team is by far the worst team in second half having conceded more than 40 goals and it seems the stamina for the team as a whole lack a bit. It is actually very difficault to see Hull win this game easily and punters laying the team at Betfair at odds 2.46 will be in for a good solid opportunity to increase their bankrolls today. Laying at 2.46 in fact mean that punters are getting odds 1.67 on Sunderland not losing the match. This price is a bit more than expected and should be taken advantage of by laying Hull at the worlds biggest betting exchange Betfair.

Premier League Betting Tips: Wigan v Arsenal

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

Wigan will be playing Arsenal today in a game where both teams have to get back on track after the disappointing results in the midweek matches. With Chelsea’s defeat to Tottenham yesterday, Arsenal might have chance to get back in the hunt for the championship, but a victory today is required, if the Gunners are to keep up. We have looked at the match today and found the best betting tips, which are described in the preview below.

In their midweek game Arsenal lost the London derby to Tottenham and with a highly injured squad, Arsene Wenger must be feeling the pressure. For today’s match he will be missing Thomas Vermaelen, Cesc Fabregas, William Gallas, Andrey Arshavin, Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Song. This mean Arsenal must put their hope in their younger players like, Samir Nasri , Abou Diaby and Nicklas Bendtner, which usually playing well against teams from bottom of the table. At same time newly returned Robin van Persie, who looked very strong in his comeback against Tottenham, might be a deciding factor in this game.

Wigan on the other hand failed against a poor Portsmouth team that won despite having only 8 chances to score in the FA Cup semifinal in the midweek. At the same time Wigan has only won once in the last 16 games, which speaks for itself. This said, Wigan seems free of relegation with five points to the danger zone, but only has other teams to thank for this.
If your are looking to place a Sports Bet on this game, you can currently get odds 6.50 for a Wigan win, odds 4.50 for a draw and odds 1.50 for a Arsenal win at William Hill Sports.
As apparent from the odds, Arsenal is the huge favorite in this match despite playing away, and even though they lost their last two games against Barcelona and Tottenham they should be the major favorite. Our Betting tip for the match is to back arsenal, who will likely win by more than one goal today. Last time they beat Wigan 4-0 and they usually play well against the lower placed teams. At the same time Wigan has never won against Arsenal, and is unlikely to do so in their 10 attempt.

PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun final table is set

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

PokerStars_com-125x125Players have reached the magic final table at the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun. Today 8 players will battle it out for the title in the $5.000 No Limit Holdem main event, where the eventual winner takes home $750.000 for his or her effort this week. As we wrote yesterday, Vanessa Selbst has been on fire throughout the poker tournament and she also made it to the final table today, but she had to give up her chiplead to Mike Beasley, who will be starting with 4.985.000, while Vanessa Selbst has 4.545.00 in chips.

The final table for today looks as follows with chip counts:

Mike Beasley, 4.985.000
Vanessa Selbst, 4.545.000
Michael Woods, 2.950.000
Alistar Melville, 2.940.000
Cliff Josephy, 1.940.000
Derek Raymond, 1.545.000
Jonathan Aguiar, 1.535.000
Scott Seiver, 1.125.000

It looks to be a very interesting final table and we are likely to see some great poker. Among the more interesting poker names are Cliff Josephy and Scott Seiver, who have over $3 and $2 million dollars respectively in lifetime poker earnings, but they will have a hard time playing as they are up against some very good players. Both Vanessa Selbst and Jonathan Aguiar are experienced players with about a million dollar in cashes and both players are likely hoping this will be their big breakthrough. On Bonusriders we still have a good eye to Vanessa and if she keeps working her chips well, she has a good shoot at the title today.

When players return today blind-levels will be 25k-50k with 5k ante, which leaves plenty of room to play for the remaining players. We could be in for a long final table and no players can be ruled out yet as play continues today at noon EDT. Check back tomorrow for the final table results from the PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun. If you also like to play tournament poker, we would like to remind you that PokerStars is hosting their Sunday Warm-up and Sunday Million today with $750.000 and $1.000.000 guaranteed. Join PokerStars now and up to $600 in sign up bonus at world’s largest poker site.

Manchester United v Bayern Munich Champions League

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

champions-league-BettingManchester United takes on Bayern Munich tonight at Old Trafford in the second leg of their quarter-final. In our match preview we have analyzed tonight’s game and fund the best betting tips on Man U v Bayern Munich, which can be found further down. Bayern Munich comes into game with 2-1 victory from last week’s game, which is a useful result before tonight’s game, while Manchester United will be forced to win to go through to the semi-final and keep the dream of bringing the trophy back to Manchester alive.

Only one week ago everything looked great for Manchester United, they were number one in Premier League and they were on their way to another Champions League final with a reasonable draw. However this week things are upside-down, as they not only lost to Bayern Munich, but also got top scorer Wayne Rooney injured in the process and Saturday they lost first place to Chelsea in the premier league. Today Manchester United have chance to get back on track by winning home against Bayern Munich, and the fact that they are playing at home should give them the necessary confidence. Before loosing to Chelsea they had won the last 8 home games and they are usually very impressive at Old Trafford. Besides Rooney, Manchester United has no major injuries, but of cause one should not underestimate the importance of this one injury. It was rumored that Rooney might be back in the squad for tonight’s game, but this was rejected by Ferguson today.

On the other hand Bayern Munich must be very confident before tonight’s match with victories over both Manchester United and Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga, which secured them first place again. At the same time Bayern Munich has done well playing away this season in Champions League. At the group stage they won 4-1 in Juventus and they also did well playing away against Fiorentina in the 1/8-final, although they lost 3-2. Of cause they will be put under more pressure going to Old Trafford, where they cannot be expected to keep Manchester United away from chances in 90 minutes. This said, they will have Martin Demichelis back in center defense, which is a clear improvement from the last game in Munich. At the same time Bastian Sweinsteiger is back from his ban in the first match, while Arien Robben is expected to in the squad for tonight’s game and might be a joker late in the game.

Looking at tonight’s match, we are likely see a tactical and defensive match. Bayern Munich will properly focus on defense, while Manchester United will try to control the game and score the necessary goal to go through. Even though it might seem dangerous just to defend against Manchester at Old Trafford, this might be their best chance. In their match against Schalke 04 this weekend, Bayern Munich defended their 2-1 lead with only 10 men in the second half, which must have been a confidence boost for the defense before tonight’s match. On top of this Manchester United is missing Rooney, which surely weakens their offense. This said, Manchester United will properly be able to put a lot of pressure on Bayern Munich and the game can change in character by an early goal, where both teams would have to attack and open up the game.

Sport betters looking to bet on the match can currently get odds 1.80 for a Manchester United win, 3.50 for a draw and 4.50 for a Bayern Munich win at William Hill Sport. Manchester United is the bookmaker favorite and odds 1.80 for a Manchester win is more than playable. We predict a very tactical and defensive match, where Manchester United will have ball most of the time. The big question is whether they will be able to score and how early. This said, our betting tip for the match is a small victory to Manchester United. We are likely to see very few goals and a tactical defensive game, but Manchester should be able to score the necessary goal at home. As a special offer, all players can receive free bet on the match today at William Hill Sport by placing a bet on the first goal scorer in the match.
