England vs Bulgaria – Euro 2012 Qualification – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

England kicks off their Euro 2012 qualification campaign on Friday night at Wembley stadium, as they take on Bulgaria. England will be desperate to start the qualifiers with a win, as they try and put another disappointing World Cup campaign behind them. The question is whether England will rise again or whether the Bulgarians will spring a surprise and pile more misery on Fabio Capello’s men? Read on as we preview the match, predict the winner and give you the best betting tips.

England team news

John Terry and Frank Lampard both miss the game with injury and are not in the squad. Meanwhile there are concerns for Phil Jagielka and Peter Crouch, who have missed the last couple of days of training and are both rated as doubtful for the game.

Jermain Defoe is in need of an operation due to a groin injury, but has been convinced to wait until after England European qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland to go under the knife. On the more positive side youngster Theo Walcott, who has already scored four goals this season for club Arsenal, is expected to start the game on the right wing.

Bulgaria Team News

Bulgaria has had a horrible form lately and is without a win in their last six games since they defeated Latvia over a year ago. Furthermore earlier in the summer former captain Dimitar Berbatov announced his retirement from international football, which means Aston Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov will be the new captain.

Manager Stanimir Stoilov has a full team to select from and former Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov will be responsible for leading the attack in Berbatov’s absence. Meanwhile Bolton’s Martin Petrov has recovered from a minor knock to feature in the game.

Match Preview

It has been a steady decline for Bulgaria since the 1994 World Cup, when the likes of Hristo Stoichkov and Yordan Letchkov helped them reach the World Cup semi finals. Since then there has not been much new talent coming through the ranks and the loss of talisman Dimitar Berbatov is a massive blow to their qualification chances.

On the other hand England has not been at their best, but nevertheless have the quality to take all three points in the game. The injury to Frank Lampard could also be a blessing in disguise, as it frees up Steven Gerrard, who has been in great form as of late, to play in his favourite position just behind the striker. England’s players will be eager to make amends for their recent results and anything other than a comfortable win would be considered a catastrophe.

Betting Tip and Match Prediction

We predict England to win at odds 1.28 at William Hill Sport

We also predict Steven Gerrard to score the first goal in the game at odds 5.50 at William Hill Sport

Currently new William Hill Sports betters can receive a special offer, when signing up their account with our exclusive bonus code F25. Sign up now and receive a $/£/€ 25 free bet on any sports event including England vs Bulgaria.

Tennis Betting – US Open betting odds and winner pick

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

The US open starts tonight as the world’s finest tennis players gather in New York for the final gram slam tournament of the pro season. We have looked closer at the men’s tournament and found the best betting tips on who will take home one of the most prestigious titles in tennis. Read below as we preview the contenders and give the betting odds for the winner of the US Open. All Prices are available now and are provided by Ladbrokes Sports.

Roger Federer

Roger Federer is currently the bookie for the tournament. He has won the US open on five previous occasions and is going into the tournament following his title in Cincinnati last week. Furthermore he lost the final last year and will be eager to make amends and win the trophy this year around. The hard court also favours his playing style and Federer should go into the tournament well rested after a month off following Wimbledon. A much needed break after his disappointing quarter-final exit in London, which seem to have done him well in both Toronto and Cincinnati.

Roger Federer can be backed at odds 3.25 at Ladbrokes Sport

Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal has struggled to show any form in the last few months, getting knocked out in the Semi Finals in Toronto and the Quarterfinals in Cincinnati. He doesn’t have a great record in the competition and has never reached a final in the US open. Despite this he should never be underestimated, as he seeks to be the youngest ever player to complete a grand slam. However currently hard court is by far his weakest surface and we do not give him many chances to win this year in New York.

Rafael Nadal can be backed at odds 3.75 at Ladbrokes Sport.

Andy Murray

Andy Murray is in great form, shining in Toronto, where he took home the trophy by beating both Nadal and Federer. He also seems to have been doing well with no coach and is looking more relaxed on the court. Currently he stands to play Nadal in an exciting semi final, if they both get through and will be confident after recently beating him in straight sets.

Andy Murray can be backed at odds 4 at Ladbrokes Sport.

Other possible contenders

Other contenders are Novak Djokovic at odds 13, and Andy Roddick at odds 17, one of which could play Federer in an eventual semi-final, if seedlings’ hold. It is tough to see which one of the two will get to the semi final, as Andy Roddick has won in the last four matches against Djokovic, and on the other hand Roddick’s form has been very inconsistent lately. However playing at home Roddick could be an outsider for title, but needs to be at his best, if he is to through both Federer and Djokovic.

Among the outsiders for title you also find Swedish Robin Söderling at odds 17 to win the tournament, while Wimbledon semi finalist Tomas Berdych is at odds 17 and Argentinean David Nalbandian, who has won eleven of the last 13 games played, is at odds 21.

Also worth mentioning is Cypriot Marcos Baghdadis, who can be backed at odds 41. Baghdadis has been performing well lately beating Nadal and reaching the final in Washington. Russian Nikolay Davydenko is also at odds 41 in the unlikely event that he will win the tournament after swinging performances lately.

Betting tip for the US Open

Our winner pick for the US Open will be Andy Murray at odds 4 at Ladbrokes Sports.

Although loosing his quarter-final to Cincinnati surprise Mardy Fish, he comes into the tournament with a fresh win from Toronto. In this tournament he showed he is among the best in world by beating Nadal (Ranking 1) and Federer (Ranking 3) to the title and could do it again in New York with his current form.

Players looking for a more safe bet could combine Murray and Federer by betting on both to win, which would be a recommendable bet considering the tournament draw.

We would like to remind sports punters, that all new players can receive a £10 free bet at Ladbrokes Sport by following the link banner below Sign up now and place your bet on the winner of the US Open.

Aston Villa vs Everton – Premier League – Betting tips and match preview

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

On Sunday afternoon Everton will travel to Villa Park to take on an Aston Villa side that has been plunged into crisis in recent weeks. After a comfortable opening day victory Aston Villa were crushed 6-0 by Newcastle in the Premier League and then knocked out in the qualification round of the Europa League by Rapid Vienna. The question is whether Aston Villa will get the win needed to get their season back on track or whether the Blues will pile more misery on the Villa side? Read on for our match preview and best betting tips for the game between Aston Villa and Everton.

Aston Villa Team News

Aston Villa caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald has a few injury problems to deal with as Gabriel Agbonlahor, John Carew and Richard Dunne have minor knocks and are rated as doubtful for the game. Meanwhile winger Stewart Downing and left back Stephen Warnock are set to start the game after being dropped in the midweek defeat by Rapid Vienna.

Everton Team News

Everton will be without Nigerian trio Victor Anichebe, Joseph Yobo and Ayegbeni Yakubu, who are all out injured. Except for those three players Everton manager David Moyes has a full team to select from and faces a pleasant headache as his reserve players performed so well in the cup game against Huddersfield in midweek, winning 5-1. Youngster Seamus Coleman and Jack Rodwell impressed and will challenge the likes of Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman for a start.

Match Preview

This is a game between two very even sides. A fact that is reinforced by their last three encounters, which have all ended in a draw. However Aston Villa seems lost after the departure of manager Martin O’Neill and star Midfield player James Milner. Winger Ashley Young’s future is also questionable, as he is reportedly unhappy at Villa Park with rivals Tottenham publicly declaring their interest in acquiring his services.

On the other hand Everton have been playing well, although they seem to be having trouble scoring goals, as Frenchman Louis Saha has been woefully out of form this season. Nevertheless Moyes has a plethora of attacking players to choose from and his team should be on a high after smashing five goals past Huddersfield. New signing Jermaine Beckford scored in that game and is expected to get the nod to start in place of Saha. Taking all this into consideration we believe that Everton can pull off a surprise here and beat Aston Villa to collect their first win of the season.

Betting Tip and Match Prediction

Our betting tip will be Everton to win at odds 2.70 from William Hill Sports.

In addition we predict that Everton will win the game 2-1 at odds 10 from William Hill Sports.

We would like to remind all new customers, that they can currently receive a £/€/$ 25 free bet when signing up at William Hill Sports. Inter Milan vs Atletico Madrid – European Super Cup – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Inter Milan take on Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup on Friday night in Monaco. The European Super Cup is contested every year by the winner of the Champions League and the winner of the Europa League. Will Inter Milan manage to take home a 5th successive title, after their treble last season and last weeks win in the Italian Supercoppa, or will Atletico Madrid manage to surprise everyone and take home the trophy?. Read our full match preview and our betting tips for the game tonight between Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.

Inter Milan Teams News

Rafa Benitez replaced Jose Mourinho as manager of Inter Milan in the summer after Mourinho left the club for Real Madrid, and Benitez will have a tough task keeping the high standards that Mourinho has set at Internazionale. This said he had a good start at his new club and won his first competitive game last week, when he led Inter Milan to the Italian Super Cup by beating fierce rivals Roma 3-1 with striker Samuel Eto’o looking particularly sharp as evidenced by his two goals.

However prior to tonights match and despite being labelled as favourites for the Super Cup, Benitez was not optimistic in evaluating the team’s current form to the press. “Our physical condition is not exactly the best…. For this match we have not had much time to prepare.”

Despite these comments Benitez will be eager to add yet another trophy to Inter Milan’s already impressive collection. Benitez has named a 21 match squad for the game and will have a full team to select from except for Thiago Motta and Davide Santon, who are both carrying knocks.

Atletico Madrid Team News

Last year, in his debut season, Quique Sanchez Flores led Atletico Madrid to the Europa League title, where they lifted the cup after beating Fulham in extra time. It was Atletico Madrid’s first European trophy since 1962, but their great season was not a coincidence and Flores also managed to lead Atletico to the Copa del Rey final, where they were defeated by Sevilla.

However the cup success last season was also accompanied with a somewhat mediocre league campaign for Atletico, as they only managed to finish 9th in the Spanish League. While winning the title in Spain would seem like mission impossible this season for them, Atletico Madrid will be very eager to add another European Cup to their cabinet and continue their success from last season.

There is good news for Flores on the injury front as World Cup Golden Boot winner Diego Forlan and Argentinean Sergio Aguero are both fit and ready to lead the attack, while Flores will give former Arsenal midfield player Fran Merida his debut. Sergio Asenjo, Borja Gonzalez, Juanito, Koke and Alberto Perea are all unavailable for the game and have been left out of the 21 man squad by the manager tonight.

Match Preview and Prediction

Overall it could be a very tight game tonight, and it is interesting to note that the teams have never faced each other before in a competitive game. Furthermore neither team has ever won the Super Cup and is looking to create history tonight. We feel that while both teams excel offensively, Atletico Madrid have had a lot of defensive problems after selling John Heitinga to Everton. Since then they have struggled to replace him and have been unable to build a strong defensive unit. With Samuel Eto’o being in top form and given more attacking responsibility this year by Benitez, we feel Inter Milan will have too much firepower for the weak Spanish defence, which could very well turn out to a deciding factor tonight

Match Betting Tips

Our betting tips will be Inter Milan to win at odds 1.85 at William Hill Sports
In addition we pick Samuel Eto’o to score first goal at odds 5.5 at William Hill Sports

Remember, all new customers can currently receive a £/€/$ 25 free bet at William Hill Sports. Players will automatically get their free bet by following the link banner below and using the bonus code F25. Sign up now and place your bet on the European Super Cup without any risk.

Tottenham vs BSC Young Boys – Champions League Qualification – Betting Tips and Match Preview

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Tottenham Hotspur takes on Swiss side BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League play-off for a place in the competitions group stage. The game is finely poised after Young Boys won the first leg with 3-2, but will be enough qualify and go on to the illustrious Champions League group stages? Read our full match preview and our predictions for the game tonight between Tottenham Hotspur and BSC Young Boys.

Tottenham Team News

In the first leg against Young Boys , Tottenham started the game dreadfully and found themselves 3-0 down within the first 28 minutes before improving and scoring two vital away goals via defender Sébastien Bassong and forward Roman Pavlyuchenko.

After the game manager Harry Redknapp was displeased with the result and placed a huge burden of blame on BSC Young Boys artificial pitch saying “I left four players out because they weren’t comfortable on the pitch in training yesterday…. I don’t agree with Astroturf and I don’t think Astroturf should be used in a competition like this.”

On Thursday night however he will not be able to use the pitch as an excuse, when he leads Tottenham out onto White Hart Lane for one of the most important games in their history. In addition not only the promised £20 million from the Champions League Group stage is at stake for Tottenham, which manager Harry Redknapp clearly stated in the preview for match, saying “it would be a great honour to get the club into the group stages and the fans would love it. Our pride is at stake and we want to get there.”

Before the match Tottenham have had good news on the injury front, as Roman Pavlyuchenko, Giovanni dos Santos, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe all seem to have recovered from knocks and will play a part in the game. However Croatian playmaker Luka Modric is ruled out of the game with a groin strain. Definitely missing the game are long term injured players Jamie O’Hara, David Bentley and Jonathan Woodgate, while new signing Williams Gallas will not be eligible to play in the game, as he has not been registered for this stage of the competition.

BSC Young Boys Team News

BSC Young Boys have not had a great start to their domestic season lying in 7th place, although they are coming into the game with some good form after defeating FC Zurich 1-0 over the weekend.

Vladimir Petkovic, BSC Young Boys Serbian manager, comprehends the difficulty of the task that awaits him going to England; however he appeared in confident mood at the press conference saying; “We know what is coming, .Spurs will go full throttle from the start and try to score the first goal, but we know how to defend and will try to attack ourselves. We are capable of doing that as seen a week ago. It would be a bad idea only to defend the result from the first match.”

BSC Young Boys are definitely able to defend well and play on the counterattack, as they proved by beating Fenerbahçe 1-0 away from home in the previous round after drawing the first game 2-2.

Petkovic has a fully fit team to select from with the exception of defensive duo Emiliano Dudar and Hassan Lingani.

Our Match Prediction

Although we do believe that Tottenham will win the game, we do not believe that you will be able to find value in the straight win, as the odds are too small. In addition BSC Young Boys will likely score a goal in the game, as they are good on the counterattack. It will be a tough game for Tottenham, as Young Boys are a disciplined side and appear tricky to break down, however we maintain that Tottenham will win the game and qualify to the next round of the Champions League.

Our Betting Tip

We believe that Tottenham will win and qualify, however we fancy Young Boys to get a goal so we tip Tottenham to win 2-1. Players looking to bet on the game can currently get odds 1.20 for Tottenham to win at Ladbrokes Sports.

If you are looking for more value, we recommend betting on the correct score, and our prediction will be a 2-1 win for Tottenham at odds 9 from Ladbrokes Sports.

Remember, new customers can still get a £10 free bet at Ladbrokes Sports by following the link banner below. Sign up now and place your bet on the game.

Manchester City vs Liverpool – Premier League – Match preview and betting tips

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

The English Premier League continues on Monday night as Manchester City host Liverpool. The game is considered additionally significant, as both teams are tipped to battle it out against each other for the lucrative fourth spot in next season’s Champions League. Who will come out victorious in this epic match up? Read the match preview for the best betting tips and predictions for the game.

Manchester City Team News

Manchester City have spent £130 million so far this summer, spending more funds than any other club in the world, and now the pressure is on for Roberto Mancini’s side to get their first win of the season.

Mancini will have new £22 million recruit James Milner available to him, who has finally completed his long awaited move from Aston Villa. Teenage sensation Mario Balotelli, who scored a fabulous goal just 10 minutes into his debut against FC Timisoara in the Europa League qualifier, is rated as doubtful for tonight’s game though, as he has suffered a knock to his right knee.

At the same time Jerome Boateng, Aleksandar Kolarov, Wayne Bridge and Michael Johnson will all miss the game with injuries.

Liverpool Team News

Roy Hodgson has impressed so far since taking charge of Liverpool. He has had a successful summer by managing to snare England International Joe Cole on a free transfer and convincing both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres to stay at the club. Furthermore Liverpool impressed in their opening fixture against Arsenal and only a last minute mistake by goalkeeper Pepe Reina kept them from winning the game, despite playing with 10 men for most of the game.

Midfielder Christian Poulsen is set to make his debut in central midfield for the Reds, while the other Danish international defender Daniel Agger and Argentinean Javier Mascherano are rated as doubtful for the game.

Joe Cole will definitely miss the game due to suspension after his red card against Arsenal.

Match Preview

Both managers are known to have a cautious approach to the game. This was evident for Manchester City in their opening game of the season, as they lined up with three defensive midfielders, while keeping an array of attacking talent on the bench. On the other hand Roy Hodgson built his success at his previous club Fulham on a very solid and organised defensive foundation. Therefore we predict both teams to start the game cautiously, and we will likely not see either side take any unnecessary chances.

In addition a defeat for either would be considered a catastrophic result, as they are considered rivals for the last Champions League spot. Likely they are both fairly satisfied with a draw this early in the season and will not gamble to get three points.

Furthermore the both matches last season ended in a draw, the first game being a boring 0-0 draw at the Eastland’s and then a 2-2 tie at Anfield. Taking all of this into consideration, we recommend for you to bet on the draw.

Betting Tip and Prediction

Our betting tip will be a draw at odds 3.25 at 888 Sport
Our match prediction will be a 1-1 result at odds 6.50 at 888 Sport

We recommend for all players to use 888 Sport for tonight’s game. If you do not have an account with 888 Sport, then sign up by clicking on the banner below. 888 Sport are currently offering to give new players their money back up to £ 20, if their bet looses, which make the draw a perfect opportunity to take advantage of this offer.

Fulham vs. Manchester United – Premier League – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Fulham will host Manchester United on Sunday afternoon in what tends to be an exhilarating game. The Cottagers have managed to beat Sir Alex Ferguson’s men on their last two visits to Craven Cottage 2-0 and 3-0, and the Red Devils will have their work cut out, if they want to take all three points. Read below for the match preview and our predictions and betting tips for the game.

Fulham Team News

New manager Mark Hughes has big shoes to fill, as he takes charge in his first competitive home game. Former manager Roy Hodgson led Fulham to the Europa League final and established them as a mid-table Premier League side in the last couple of season, which does give the new manager quite a challenge. Likely Hughes will struggle to match those achievements, unless Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed plans to make more transfer funds available to his newly-appointed manager, which seem unlikely at the moment.

Andy Johnson, Philippe Senderos and Diomansy Kamara are all ruled out for the game with long term injuries. Paul Konchesky and Mark Schwarzer are both rated as doubtful. Speculations about their probable pending transfer to Liverpool and Arsenal respectively might explain this, but nevertheless the loss of either would be blow to Fulham.

New £5 million signing, Belgian Moussa Dembélé will start on the bench and will hope to make his Premier League debut at some point in the game.

Manchester United Team News

Sir Alex Ferguson will look to start the same eleven that beat Newcastle United in their first game of the season. Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves and Anderson are still missing due to injury. Patrice Evra has a slight knock, but should start the game, while Fabio, who also has a small knock, is likely to feature on the bench.

Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov is expected to start up front, while Michael Owen is back in the squad after being excluded completely from last week’s win over The Magpies. Worries over Rooney remain, as he has now gone 13 games – 1,082 minutes – without a goal for club and country, his last coming on March 30th.

Sir Alex doesn’t seem too concerned however and was quite philosophical in the pre match press conference, when he stated: “Strikers live by their goals. When they’re not scoring they think it’s never going to come. Then when they do come, they think they’re never going to finish. They’re quite straightforward in that respect.”

Match Preview

Manchester United has developed a team with tremendous strength going forward and their firepower will likely be too much for Fulham to handle. In light of Wayne Rooney’s inability to find the net in recent months, players like Berbatov, Chicharito and Valencia have been picking up form, and we expect Manchester United to score at least two goals in the match today.

Furthermore, veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes have also looked inspired recently. Scholes picked up the Man of the Match award against Chelsea in the Community Shield and Giggs scored a beautifully-worked goal against Newcastle.

While Fulham are organised at the back and in midfield, they will struggle to score goals this season. If Nemanja Vidic can keep, England debutant, Bobby Zamora quiet, then we don’t see many viable attacking options left for Fulham.

Betting Tip and Match Prediction

Our betting tip is Manchester united to win at odds 1.57 at William Hill Sports
The match prediction will be a 2-0 win for Manchester United at odds 7.00 William Hill Sports

We recommend all players to choose William Hill Sports for the match today. Currently new customers can receive a €/£/$25 free bet at William Hill Sports by creating a new account through the link banner below. Everton vs. Wolverhampton – Premier League – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

The premier league continues on Saturday as Everton take on Wolverhampton Wanderers. Everton will try and get their first points of the season after a disappointing start against Blackburn, while Wolverhampton will look to keep up their impressive start to the season.

Read the team news and match preview below, and receive our exclusive betting tips for the match.

Everton Team News

Everton’s poor performance in the first game of the season came as a shock to all involved, especially manager David Moyes. Afterward he stated on the Everton’s official website that his team; “need better penetration and to find a way to get more people in and create more chances”. For the match Saturday he must try implement this, as Everton play their first home game of the season.

Luckily for manager Moyes, he has a full team to select from with the exception of Victor Anichebe, who is doubtful for the game. Tim Howard will continue in goal and have the continued support from his manager, despite his costly mistake in the season opener against Blackburn.

New signing Jermaine Beckford is likely to get the nod to start upfront, instead of or alongside Louis Saha, depending on whether Everton line up with a 4-4-2 formation or a 4-5-1 formation. Teenager Jack Rodwell is also expected start and will replace Leon Osman in the centre midfield for the blues.

Wolverhampton Team News

Wolves have a clean bill of health for the game against Everton. Striking duo Kevin Doyle and new signing Steven Fletcher, who impressed and scored in his debut, have knocks, but manager Mick McCarthy expects both players to be fit for the game. They will fight for a spot besides fellow striker Sylvain Ebanks-Blake, who also played impressively in the first game of the season.

Wolverhampton usually play a 4-5-1 formation away from home, and we only expect Ebanks-Blake to start the game, while Doyle and Fletcher come in as substitutes, if the game is not going according to plan.

Match Preview

Wolverhampton will set out to defend deep and frustrate Everton in this game. However Everton have too much talent in the midfield department and will be looking to create the chances missing in their opener. If Mikel Arteta and Steven Pienaar can rediscover their form, then it will be a difficult match for the weak Wolverhampton defence to cope. In addition Everton will want to redeem them selves for their poor start to the season and will feel that this is a perfect opportunity to do so. Last season’s game ended in a 1-1 draw; however we expect Everton to easily dominate this time around.

Betting Tip and Match Prediction

Our betting tip will be Everton to win at odds 1.53 with Ladbrokes Sports

The match prediction will be Everton to win 3-0 at odds 10 with Ladbrokes Sports

Remember, new customers can still get a £10 free bet at Ladbrokes Sports by following the link banner below. Sign up now and place your bet on the game or any other Premier League match this weekend.

Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen – Bundesliga – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Friday, August 20th, 2010

The German Bundesliga finally gets underway Friday night, as last years champions Bayern Munich kick off their campaign against Steve McLaren’s Werder Bremen at Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich had a remarkable season last year winning both the league and domestic cup, but will Bayern Munich start the season with a win or will Werder Bremen provide a shock and announce themselves as possible title contenders?

Read the team news and match preview below, and receive the best betting tips for the game tonight.

Bayern Munich Team News

Bayern Munich have not made any notable transfer changes this summer and are, understandingly, relying on the same squad that dominated so strongly last season. For the match tonight they are without star players Arjen Robben and Ivica Olic, who are both injured, while Franck Ribery will probably not feature due to personal reasons. This mean they must rely on rejuvenated Miroslav Klose to start upfront as a lone striker and youngster Thomas Müller, who played remarkably during the World Cup this summer, just behind him.

Werder Bremen Team News

While Bayern made little changes during the summer, Werder Bremen has rung the changes, as this they try to improve on their disappointing 8th place finish last season. Former England manager Steve McLaren has taken over as manager, fresh from leading Twente the title in the Dutch Eredivisie last year. A result that has proved to be a remarkable turnaround for Steve McLaren, whose reputation and carrier was in tatters after a nightmare spell with England.

Changes have been made on the field as well for Werder Bremen. Young Dane Simon Kjaer and German international Arne Friedrich has been brought in to stabilize the defence, while Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic will now supplement Edin Dzeko upfront. Furthermore Obafemi Martins and defender Ricardo Costa have been showed the door this summer to Rubin Kazan and Valencia respectively.

Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen Match Preview

In our opinion Bayern Munich should be able to this match playing at home and get off to a good start in the new season. Louis van Gaal has built a very steady and organised side, which always seem to produce the required result. In addition we believe this match comes a little too soon for Steve McLaren, who is still in the process of organising his new side. History is on Bayern Munich’s side as well, as they have beaten Werder Bremen in 8 out of the last 9 home games. Last years corresponding tie ended in a 3-0 victory for Bayern Munich, and with a home advantage we can not ignore Bayern Munich in this match.
